Why are you here?
Well, because I have asked you to be, so you can be a part of those who are in the know about my situation and status. It’s not going to be pretty, but it’s happening, and you are special and loved enough that I’d want you to know about it. Please feel free to comment on any post, ask questions (I promise to answer every one), and in general feel positive about all of this because it is a means to an end. And by end I mean an end to what is ailing me. I will be posting at random times as I go through experiences bringing me to the end of this journey, so check back often (or subscribe!). Feel free to repost this site publicly, or tell others about it. But keep it respectful of course. Pay close attention to the date, as the most recent will be on top (right under this one). If you want the full story including from back in 2021, please scroll to the bottom and read on up.
And now without further delay, read on to find out what it is I’m talking about…
Good job, babe!
Thank you!
I already know why I’m here: unending support! 😀
Thanks Kev!
Sending all the positive vibes my friend.
Thank you!
If anyone can take this on and kick its ass, you can. You’ve got this and we’re all here to make sure you do. Love you bro. Looking forward to those celebratory cocktails at the end of the year!
Thanks brotha…so glad to be able to count on you!
Looking forward to the day you’re past this and back healthy! I love ya and make sure you reach out if you need anything.
Thank you Camille! ❤️
This is (literally) gut-wrenching timing—the government just lowered the age recommended for colorectal cancer checks to 45: cnn.com/2021/05/18/health/colorectal-cancer-screening-45-wellness/index.html
So, in the same way that my fish was helpful to you, your diagnosis is likely helpful to all our guy friends who otherwise might have waited to get ‘oscopied.
This is true, heard about this a couple of weeks back I think, so thank you for passing this on. Hopefully more people heed this as they get older…most think they can comfortably wait until 50…
Thank you for sharing cousin Charlie! ❤ its an eye opener for sure..
Hopefully people will take it as a sign to get checked earlier (the minimum age is now 45 instead of 50). Thanks for your support cuz!
Thank you for including me Charles! I’ve only known you for a short time, but I know you have a warrior spirit. I’m praying for your health and for all the medical staff that are helping to take care of you.
Thank you Paula!
Wait…WHAT?? Can this past year get any more vexing? Charles – sending support and love. I hope this finds you feeling better and better and that this health scare quickly goes away. What is it about Spivaks and abdominal issues? Thank you so much for letting me know. “Thoughts and prayers,” is so overused these days, yet you got those from me at the very least. Now…on to a full recovery. You got this! xoxo, Amanda
Thank you cuz! Any kind of good vibes, I will take it. Thank you for your love and support!
Love ya buddy! I’m here to support any way I can from afar and hopefully I’ll be able to visit soon!❤️
Thank you Sue! Looking forward to seeing you
Pretty doesn’t matter. I appreciate how candid you are.
I tried to be descriptive and informational, pretty is just incidental 😎
You’re an amazing writer Charles, and what you’re writing is so important. Thanks for taking us through the good, the bad, and the ugly of your experience. I have no doubts that your words will help many people put their fears aside and go for their screenings. Keep kicking ass!
Thank you Molly! Definitely more to come soon, just have to muster the motivation to do it. And yes, if I can help even just one person know the ultimate importance of prevention, that it might not ever get to the point of where I am (or worse!) then I’ll feel I’ve done my part. Otherwise, I want to be able to keep my friends and loved ones up to date with how I’m doing because *questions* 😉 I appreciate the kind words, as that is the type of thing to surely keep me going in times like these!
